The Blue Bell Inn during the 1940s by Steve | added 22 Sep 12
We think this is Sally Parry (neé Jones) Daughter of Isaac Jones next to her husband Thomas Parry but who is the dapper fellow to the left of Thomas Parry?
Interesting seeing the shape of the pub post war and one that many remember today. The sign has been repainted since Isaac Jones time and the bottom windows extended too.

Penygarreg Chert Quarry #2 by webmaster | added 04 Sep 12
This picture taken in the 1920’s shows Edward and his sons Robert John (L) and Ernest at Penygarreg Quarry. The winch in the forground was used to haul the blocks of chert out of the quarry where they would be dressed on the surface.
Note the ‘boss’ wears a bowler and the ‘workers’ flat caps.
My great great grandfather James Williams has his name (along with many others) carved in the stone at the entrance to Salem Chapel, Pentre Halkyn.

Hawen Cottage by webmaster | added 04 Sep 12
Hawen Cottage, Pentre Halkyn. Date unknown but possibly 1900 or earlier. Note the unmettaled road.
The is a telegraph poll but would appear to only have the capacity for two lines
Hawen cottage was occupied by various members of the Williams family during the 1800 and 1900’s. As was ‘Gwynfa’ (previously Cherry Tree house) which was the house next door.
